Sherborne Abbey Quiet Day: A Quiet Day in the Garden

10.00 am for 10.30 am until 4.00 pm

At Bembury Farm, Thornford, by kind invitation of Sir John and Lady Garnier.  Led by The Rt Reverend Tim Thornton, Bishop at Lambeth, formerly Bishop of Sherborne. His theme will be Once you were not a people …. Please bring a Bible, notebook, pen and a packed lunch. Book your place at the Parish Office (01935 812452) office hours only. The Reverend David Marl will help us to contemplate various works of art and will offer a final practical session.

Session 3: 27 August    Church Hall

*Indicates that we will decide on the location depending on numbers attending.

Bank Holiday organ recital

Timothy Wakerell

The last of this year’s Bank Holiday recitals, which lasts about an hour. The big nave screen will be up, giving a unique chance to see the organ console in action!

Timothy Wakerell is Assistant Organist at New College, Oxford, a post he has held since September 2014.  Prior to this he was Sub-Organist of St Paul’s Cathedral between 2008 and 2014 and played for important services such as the Funeral of Baroness Thatcher and the Diamond Jubilee Service.  A prize-winning graduate of the Royal College of Music, Timothy also won Second Prize at the 2011 Carl Nielsen International Organ Competition in Odense, Denmark.  He has performed throughout the UK and abroad; recent venues include the Marienkirche, Berlin, St Augustin, Paris and St Paul’s Cathedral.
