Good Friday – Readings & Reflection, The Good Friday Liturgy & The Last Hour of the Cross Devotion
Good Friday
Three Hour service
12noon: Readings & Reflection
At noon on Good Friday, we gather for a service of readings and reflection, marking the beginning of this most solemn day.
This is a time to pause, reflect and enter more deeply into the story of Christ’s passion.
1.00 pm The Good Friday Liturgy
The Good Friday Liturgy is the central service of the day, sung by the Abbey Choir.
Through scripture, prayer and music, we remember the crucifixion of Christ. The service includes anthems In the departure of the Lord (Bull) and Crux fidelis (John IV of Portugal), alongside well-loved hymns.
This solemn and powerful liturgy invites all to reflect on the depth and meaning of Good Friday.
2.00 pm The Last Hour of the Cross Devotion
This devotional service marks the final moments of Good Friday, offering a quiet and prayerful space to reflect on Christ’s death.
Through readings, silence and reflection, we are invited to remain present at the foot of the cross.
All are welcome.
