Congratulations on your engagement! Sherborne Abbey offers a magnificent and spiritual setting for your wedding. We’re here to help you plan a day that is personal, meaningful, and memorable.
Who Can Marry Here
We would love to welcome you to celebrate your marriage at Sherborne Abbey or one of our associated churches. To be married here, you’ll need a ‘Qualifying Connection’. In summary, this means one of the following applies:
- One of you was baptised or confirmed in the parish
- One of you has lived in the parish for six months or more
- One of you has regularly attended worship here for six months or more
- One of your parents has lived or worshipped here for six months or more
- One of your parents or grandparents was married here
If you’re unsure, we can guide you through what qualifies. Every couple meets with a member of the clergy early in the process to talk through the next steps.
Planning Your Ceremony
Our clergy team will help you shape a service that reflects your story and faith. Together, you can choose hymns, readings and prayers that mean the most to you.
In the months before your wedding, you’ll meet with your priest, attend a rehearsal, and confirm details like music, flowers and the order of service. The Abbey organist and vergers are also here to assist you.
