Sherborne Abbey Choir present something uniquely special at this year’s Festival: a meditative programme that includes music from the Sherborne Missal – the spectacular and unrivalled late medieval service book created by the Abbey monks between 1399 and 1407. Gentle plainchant from this exceptional treasure, interspersed with magnificent full-bodied choral music from some of the greatest composers of the Renaissance – Orlando Lassus, Tómas Luis de Victoria, Thomas Tallis, Franciso Guerrero and Robert Parsons, serves to illuminate in sound both Sherborne’s sacred history and the continuation of its exceptional musical heritage.
