The Glories of Venice

Be transported to the splendour of 16th century Venice for this concert of music by Monteverdi and Gabrieli. The programme contains a wide variety of textures of voices and instruments, with solo and multi-voice works for choir and instruments and instrumental music from one of the country’s top period ensembles.

Exploring the ‘times’ and ‘seasons’ of human existence, A Time to Dance has been commissioned by the Summer Music Society of Dorset to celebrate its 50th anniversary. It has been designed as a companion piece to Bach’s Magnificat, using the same orchestral forces and composed to be played on period or modern instruments.
