Abbey Teaching Sessions
A new development this term, these
two teaching sessions have grown out of the extremely popular
evening the Vicar held in August on ‘Anglican concerns'. Many people voiced
an appetite for more occasions of this kind, with ample opportunity for
questions and comments from the floor. So the Vicar has reserved the Church
Hall for two more such evenings: Tuesday 14 October and
Tuesday 18 November , both at 7.30pm . His
aim will not be to go over the same ground every time, but to widen our
understanding of how matters theological, doctrinal and ethical need to
be tackled. On 14 October he will begin by exploring how as individuals
we perceive theological and ethical issues and handle them, and move on
to look at how both Church and society perceive and handle them. In particular,
are differences of historical period or geography or culture legitimate
factors in the perception and handling of issues, or distractions from
the pursuit of absolute truths and immutable principles?
There will be no charge for either
of these sessions – just turn up – but there will be a retiring collection
at each to cover the cost of handouts and other materials.
